We have been learning about houses and buildings and because our school will be getting a couple of new classrooms we decided to design new classrooms. This meant researching new classrooms and modern learning environments. We thought about what our ideal classroom would look like. We had to draw floor plans, we had looked at other floor plans that some children and brung to school and we drew side views trying to match the design with the rest of the school. now we busy constructing them from cardboard, that is causing some structural dilemmas and we have had to do some reinforcing. Here are some pics of us busy at work, our plans had to be approved and we have to keep them on site so we can refer to them when building. We are just like real builders!! Update on the Hairy Harry's who now have new names- Sabrina, Tama and Lightning McQueen!!24/6/2016 Dontay, Mele and Clayton have been taking great care of their friends, keeping them in the sun and watering them. check out hair new hair doo's. Today the green birds reading group made their Hairy Harry's. They had read a book about making a Hairy Harry and written down their own instructions for how to make them. They followed these instructions to make their own. First they put in grass seed into the foot of the stocking Next potting mix and tied it off Then they filled the jar with water and put the head in We sat the Hairy Harry's in the sunlight in the window sill Now we wait!! .Over the past 5 weeks we have been doing netball skills with Brook. This week we looked at shooting and defending. some people were amazing shooters and defenders. Well done Room 9. thanks for the photos Faith. We have been interested in how things change over time and we had discussed how people used to use feathers to write and draw with, they were called Quills. We decided to have a go. Room 9 have been on the look out for feathers over the past couple of weeks. Mrs O'Donnell sliced off a piece of the shaft = the strong piece that runs along the length of the feather. we then dipped it in ink and drew feathers. They look amazing!! We are going to use our quills to do more of our work next week!!! Well done everyone your Assembly yesterday was wonderful you all spoke clearly and ran the Assembly all by yourselves, a fantastic achievement. Thanks to all those who came along and helped. Sorry that the photo's aren't more of our class but we had a small hick up with our pictures so I've borrowed a couple from room 9. You should all be proud of your sharing and introducing. well done too to Feleti and Zoe for getting the class certificates because of their great Empathy for others and leadership by example in room 9. Great stuff. We are all looking forward to another great term and our new topic of DESIGNS UNLIMITED where we do an Inquiry about buildings and look at the form and function and how technology has changed. We all had a great first day back catching up with everyone and hanging out with our friends. Autumn has bought some more fun in the playground as many of us had fun playing in the leaves that have fallen off the trees. What fun. |
