Thanks to all the wonderful parents who came to help get us organised for our show, you were all amazing. here we are all beautiful and ready to go.
Here are some pics you have all been waiting for of our class practice a couple of days before the performance.
On the Seven of Semptember there was an AWESOME surprise especially for Bella because it was her birthday someone called Dion Drurmmond came to our school. he did some Aboriginal dances for us. Feleti in our class got to go up and get taught a dance, he got to do 'Shake a Leg.' Mrs O' Donnell did 'Funky Chicken'. Kaedia also got to go up to do a song, it was a greeting song. Mele also got to do a dance as well. It was tots amazing. Everyone loved the dances Dion did for us. it was awesome that it was after swimming because it was relaxing. We are lucky in middle school to have the year 12 PE class from the college visiting us for four sessions to take kiwisports with us. Here are some pictures from the first sessions.Book week was fun, we read to our buddy class and Maddie's Nana came to read to us, plus some other teachers. On Friday we all dressed as book characters and had a fun day. Everyone had gone to lots of trouble and we called each other by our character names for the day. we had to tell the class about our character and describe their personality. We had heaps of fun. We are all sad to be loosing one of our room 9 pupils as he is moving to a new school. We wish him all the best, we will miss you buddy. Some pics of Dontay's farewell from the class they children reading their messages to him. Today Feleti shared with us all about Tongan Art, he dressed in his Tongan dance costume and taught us how to draw Tongan designs. He was an amazing teacher and he stepped us through the designs building on the difficulty as we went. We all loved it and are pretty excited about doing some more designs to share next week. Plus next week Feleti will share a Tongan dance with us. Already other children from our room are organising to share their cultures dance with us. How exciting. We have begun or time topic for Maths, this week we looked at minutes and how long a minute was. As part of this we looked at different timers and things you could do for a minute. We made minute timers using a bottle, sand and a cup. We had to work out how to make the timer. there were a few problems to solve along the way - the size of the hole in the lid, the size and wetness of the sand, how could we check it was a minute and make sure the correct amount of sand was in the timer ??? This took a bit of testing. We worked in teams to solve these problems then made a google doc to explain what we had done. Here are some photos of us hard at work. Check out some of the amazing homework that the wonderful children in room 2 have produced this term. I am so proud of them all. Thanks Faith for taking all the photos. plus if you get a chance come in and read our space Adventure stories, they are terrific. |
